Ultra Symphyllia Coral

What It Is
The Ultra Symphyllia is a spectacular large-polyp stony coral featuring deep valleys, fleshy ridges and vibrant contrasting colours. This specimen displays rich red-orange tissue highlighted by bright yellow-green fluorescent streaks that intensify under blue reef lighting. Its folded, brain-like appearance creates a dramatic texture that stands out among both LPS and soft corals.

Why We Like It
Symphyllias have a luxurious look that instantly gives a reef tank a mature, established feel. The combination of bold colours, intricate patterns and inflated flesh makes every colony unique. They are the sort of coral that rewards a closer look, revealing more detail and colour the longer you spend admiring them.

Care Information

  • Scientific Name: Symphyllia sp.
  • Lighting: Low to Moderate (50–150 PAR)
  • Flow: Low to Moderate
  • Placement: Sand bed or lower reef
  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
  • Aggression: Moderate
  • Feeding: Benefits from occasional feeding of mysis, krill and other meaty foods
  • Growth Rate: Slow

Notes
Symphyllias expand significantly when healthy and should be provided with enough space to avoid contact with neighbouring corals. They generally colour up best under stable nutrient levels and moderate lighting. While relatively hardy, care should be taken when handling as the fleshy tissue can be damaged if scraped against rockwork or exposed skeleton. A beautiful choice for reef keepers looking for a true showpiece LPS coral.
