Duncan Coral
What It Is
The Duncan Coral is a large-polyp stony coral known for its bright green oral discs, long flowing tentacles and exceptional hardiness. Unlike many LPS corals, Duncans readily grow into impressive multi-headed colonies, creating a striking display of movement and colour. Their extended polyps remain open throughout the day, giving the coral a full and active appearance.
Why We Like It
Duncans are one of those rare corals that tick almost every box. They are colourful, easy to care for, fast-growing and always look like they’re thriving. Whether you’re setting up your first reef tank or building a mature display, a healthy Duncan colony brings movement and life to the aquarium without the aggression associated with many other LPS species.
Care Information
Notes
Duncan corals are excellent feeder corals and often show a strong feeding response when food enters the water. Regular feeding can significantly increase growth rates and encourage rapid head formation. They generally coexist well with neighbouring corals but should still be given adequate space to fully expand. Their forgiving nature makes them one of the best LPS corals for both beginners and experienced reef keepers alike.
