Ultra Green Cynarina Coral

What It Is
The Ultra Green Cynarina is a large-polyp stony coral prized for its inflated appearance and intense fluorescent green colouration. During the day it forms a fleshy, oversized disc with deep folds and valleys, while under blue reef lighting the green pigments can become especially striking. Individual specimens can expand significantly beyond their skeleton size, creating a dramatic focal point in reef aquariums.

Why We Like It
Cynarinas have a presence that few other LPS corals can match. Their oversized flesh, gentle movement and glowing colours make them a true centrepiece coral. This variety combines rich green fluorescence with the classic inflated Cynarina shape, making it equally impressive whether viewed under daylight or full reef blues.

Care Information

  • Scientific Name: Cynarina lacrymalis
  • Lighting: Low to Moderate (50–150 PAR)
  • Flow: Low, indirect flow
  • Placement: Sand bed preferred
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Aggression: Moderate
  • Feeding: Benefits from occasional feeding of mysis, krill, reef roids or similar foods
  • Growth Rate: Slow

Notes
Place on sand rather than rockwork, as the sharp skeleton can damage the fleshy tissue if the coral expands against hard surfaces. Allow space around the coral as it can inflate substantially larger than its resting size. Cynarinas generally prefer stable water parameters and lower flow than many other LPS corals.
